Everything from the last little while

We were back up at the property last week. Besides getting some work done like taping, spray foaming, cleaning, organizing and collecting firewood, we also had fun like reading, kneeboarding playing baseball, board games, boating, visiting friends and swimming. Three days wrapped up into one sentence. Not bad. The building inspector also came up to do a final examination. He drove a half an hour from Lanark.  He was on our property for LESS THAN 5 MINUTES!!! Then he drove another half hour back to Lanark. Well, that was a surprise. Now that he did the final check we can use the woodstove. The insulation is done in the roof and we have put vapour barrier and boards up. Before this winter we will have temporary walls up, but the cordwood won't be finished. We also have not quite finished the brick wall yet. We will need only one more day of work and then we´ll be ready for the winter.
The days are getting cooler, but soon we´ll have a nice warm cottage. We won't be living there, but it will be great to have a gettaway spot!

Because it´s cooler the fishing is getting better. My dad caught the biggest fish of his life just a few days ago. It was fighting and trying to get away, so we thought it was a pike. When it was beside the boat we realized it was actually an enormous bass. It was so big it didn´t even fit on the fish stringer!

A new quick renovation has taken place. We took everything out of the little kids room and pulled up the carpet. Now we're working on the walls.  It will be a brand new room when we're done with it!

The girls have started to learn Irish dancing and they love it. My mom said: ``The teacher likes them and says they are very well spoken.´´ I guess they know how to speak english. ;-)
More to come on dancing!

Meanwhile Jeremiah and I have started hockey. I have discovered that it´s a bit harder than you think. The professionals make it look so easy. Well, I hope that we are not terrible. At least we will improve over the year. And it´s fun. That´s how it´s supposed to be. Right???
Jeremiah almost scored a goal. He was the only one in front of the net and he had the puck. The goalie was standing in the way. Or else he would have scored. I have gotten an assist and a few goal chances as well. Eventually I´ll score.

We haven't yet found land, but hopefully I can soon say: "We have got land! It is here and we are going to start the building or renovating and then we will get our first animals.  Besides bees!

Have a great week!!!

Jonathan
